Subtle. Light-dark. Emotive.

Ellanika is a fresh name in the world music scene, offering a distinctive and evocative sound.

Led by the singer-songwriters, Nika and Max Ellansky, Ellanika’s music is characterized by Nika’s deep, caressing voice. It is both fragile and unshakable, like an ancient caryatid who holds its temple and transports it through time. Ellanika’s songs radiate with colors, from the morning blue and lime light south rays to the depths of dark apathy. The lyrics of Ellanika are clear as air and engulfing as quicksand, containing a wide spectrum of feelings – new hope, forgiveness, solitude, time transiency, angst, love. Ellanika’s music encompasses elements of melancholic piano ballads, pop music, and soft rock, drawing inspiration from the Irish – Damien Rice, BellX1, U2, The Cranberries and Kodaline.

Ellanika formed in the fall of 2022 as a pursuit of creativity in a shattering world. However, the pillars began to rise long before, first by delving into the depths of music, from classical to modern, and then by finding its own voice and style.

The fine synergy of Nika and Max Ellansky began in 2012 when they first met and began making music together. Their first song “Night” was recorded in their home studio in 2016 and was very warmly received by their SoundCloud and YouTube listeners (over 1000 subscribers). The band decided to dive into song writing in search of new sounds and experiences. Having recorded more than 20 demo songs, they were ready to record something big. The result is Rayborn, their 2023 debut EP, produced by Patrik Majer (Echo Award for Producer of the Year, 2006, Germany) and co-produced with Next of Din (Nora Medín and Rafael Rikou) at PowerPlay Studio, in Zurich, Switzerland.

The effect is sublime, timeless, cinematic, wistful – somewhere between conquest and asylum, happiness and sorrow, light and dark. And in the center of it is melody.

The name Rayborn is reminiscent of Nika’s first composition at age 15 called “Ray”, as a birthday present for her sister, initiating the creative process which led to the album.

Ellanika’s music is a testament to the power of the inner world and the ability to transcend the challenges that arise from within and without.

As Nika puts it, “Sometimes I think that the whole universe is a process of music making, and every note is just like a planet on the piano sheet which orbits around the galaxies. And although the near rhyme for ‘universe’ is ‘noise’, if you take it in, you’ll hear that it’s music.”
